How to Survive a Family Weekend - Nutritionally & Physically

My family is coming into town today. I'm so excited! I need to start planning how I'll escape this weekend without too much damage done though! If you're going to visit friends and family or they're coming to visit you, here are some good tips to keep your fitness and nutrition in check.

1. Drink water!!!! Remember, water helps flush out metabolic impurities so remaining hydrated is extremely important.
2. Portion control - If you can't measure your food, use the eyeball method. Protein size should be the size and thickness of the palm of your hand (no fingers!), Carbohydrates - size of a clenched fist (starchy carbs - veggies are free!), Fat - size of the tip of your thumb.
3. Get your workouts in! You must, must, must keep burning those extra calories. You might have to find creative ways to workout like running the stairs in your own house or pulling out a power yoga dvd. I like to slip away for early morning runs/walks before my family even gets up.

Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend! ~Margot
